Why should I donate my shoes to In Jacob’s Shoes®?

Our volunteers clean and disinfect all previously worn shoes. We make them look great so the recipients can wear them with dignity. We also sort all donated items and make sure they are delivered to the organizations that can immediately use them. In doing so, these organizations can focus and preserve their precious volunteer hours to support and pursue their missions.

In Jacob’s Shoes® also supports many smaller charities and agencies that do not have the facilities to warehouse the donated shoes. These charities are able to request shoes from In Jacob’s Shoes on an as-needed basis insuring the children they support get the shoes with the right fit.

We keep in close contact with school social workers and teachers, shelters, social service agencies, and other charities to gain a clear understanding of their needs. When they contact In Jacob’s Shoes® for help…your donated items make it possible for us to get the shoes to them quickly.

How does In Jacob’s Shoes® distribute the shoes, backpacks, school supplies and athletic athletic gear to children in need?

Shoes, backpacks and school supplies are distributed for children in need via requests made by schools, shelters, charities and social service organizations and agencies which have prequalified the children and families as being in need. These agencies make the request directly to In Jacob’s Shoes. The shoes are ready for pick-up by the school or agency representative usually within 1-5 days. Social workers, teachers and representatives from the schools and agencies deliver the shoes to the children for whom the request was made. The process is fast, efficient and anonymous, saving the child from unnecessary embarrassment.

In July and August each year, In Jacob’s Shoes distributes thousands of pairs of new and refurbished shoes to local children in need at community and agency sponsored back-to-school events. These events are empowering for the children as they get to “shop” and choose their shoes for the new school year.
